What connects a blueberry to the vastness of the universe? For the current artist-in-residence at the International Artists’ House in Fronberg, Kairi Uibo from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, this small fruit symbolises the grand interconnections that shape our world.
On Sunday 25 October 2026 from 14:00 to 17:00, Kairi Uibo will open her studio for the Open Studios event. Visitors will have the opportunity to discover her artistic work, gain an insight into her creative process and have a chat with her.
In her work, the artist combines personal memories with cultural traditions and historical experiences. Her Estonian heritage serves as an important point of reference: traditional patterns and time-honoured symbols become starting points for exploring identity, heritage and cultural memory. Her experiences of the political and social upheavals during Estonia’s ‘Singing Revolution’ also shape her perspective on how the past continues to influence the present. The blueberry serves as a symbol of the relationship between the small and the large, transience and timelessness. It represents a world in which nature, history and human experience are interwoven. Kairi Uibo’s artistic work invites us to step away from familiar perspectives and discover new meanings in the seemingly unremarkable – for sometimes it is precisely in the small things that the great can be recognised.
The artist and the team at Kebbel Villa look forward to welcoming many interested visitors!
