This publication on the exhibition “New Sad” by Michael Franz contains photos that were shown in the exhibition as part of a film.
In the works shown, memories of growing up in the rural Upper Palatinate are intermingled with motifs from the early days of Franz's artistic work - and ultimately more and more with images that can be read as ominous harbingers of the current crises. The title “New Sad”, actually just the combination of the license plates of the two neighbouring districts of Neustadt/Waldnaab and Schwandorf, sets the mood.
