From July 7, 2025, the barrier-free conversion of our Wilhelminian-style building will begin - with the aim of making art even more accessible to everyone in future.

Following the conclusion of the two current exhibitions - “THE (MU-LU)TANTS” by French artist Camille Tsvetoukhine and “The Highest Point of an Empty Temple” by Polina Shcherbyna from Ukraine - the building will be closed for several months.

A central element of the construction work is the installation of an elevator that will connect all levels of the listed building: from the printing workshops in the basement to the two exhibition floors and the event hall on the second floor. The entrance area will also be redesigned to make it barrier-free - the open space in front of the main entrance will be carefully raised to create step-free access.

While the artist-in-residence program will continue without interruption, regular exhibition and events at the Kebbel Villa are expected to be paused until February 2026. During this time, works from the collection of the District of Upper Palatinate will go on an exhibition tour. Individual events will be held in alternative venues during the renovation phase.
