Limpe Fuchs (born in Munich in 1941, lives in Peterskirchen) has been a leading figure in the international experimental music scene for decades. After studying piano and percussion in Munich, she began exploring sound alongside the sculptor and sound artist Paul Fuchs as the duo ANIMA MUSICA, experimenting with materials such as bronze, stone and wood. This engagement with sound, spanning over thirty years, gave rise to the unique instruments she now masters. Classical instruments such as the viola and bamboo flute are also part of her multifaceted sonic spectrum.
Since 1989, Limpe Fuchs has been active as a soloist and composer of acoustic and visual works. Despite her solo work, collaboration with other musicians remains of central importance. In the 1980s, she worked with, amongst others, Friedrich Gulda, Albert Mangelsdorff and Barre Phillips; in the 1990s with Sebi Tramontana, Ulli Bartel and Georg Karger. Furthermore, she took part in experimental music theatre productions supported by the Munich Department of Culture.
At the present time, she performs in various ensembles, including duos with Pit Holzapfel (trombone), Jacques Foschia (bass clarinet), Valérie Vivancos (voice and electronics) and Mark Fell (electronics), as well as in the BFGH Quartet, where she plays alongside Pit Holzapfel, Elmar Guantes on double bass and Zoro Babel on drums.
