Call for Residency scholarships at our partner organizations 2026
In 2026, the Friends of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus are once again awarding exchange scholarships lasting several weeks to Bavarian artists, composers and writers at the following national and international partner institutions:
- Villa Paula, Klavoty/Klenová, Czech Republic
- Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), Virginia, USA
- Stadt:Atelier Salzburg, Austria
- Schloss Plüschow, Mecklenburg-Hither Pomerania, Germany
- Urban meets Rural Residency Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany

Field: Visual Arts and Literature
Duration of stay: 5 weeks
Period: 23 February to 29 March 2026
Two scholarships available in total
Including: Accommodation, studio, daily stipend of approx. €18,00 (local currency)
Not barrier-free; suitable for artist duos
Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA), Virginia, USA
Field: Visual Arts, Literature and Composition
Duration of stay: 4 weeks
Period: 30 April to 28 May or 30 September to 28 October 2026
Four scholarships available in total (two in spring and two in autumn)
Including: Accommodation, studio, catering (cook)
Barrier-free, assistance animals possible upon agreement; suitable for artist duos
Stadt:Atelier Salzburg, Austria
Field: Visual Arts
Duration of stay: 4 weeks
Period: 01 October to 29 October 2026

Including: Accommodation, studio
Not barrier-free; suitable for artist duos (but only one shared bedroom)
Schloss Plüschow, Mecklenburg-Hither Pomerania, Germany
Field: Visual Arts and Literature
Duration of stay: 4 weeks
Period: 01 April to 29 April 2026
One scholarship available in total
Including: Accommodation, studio
Urban Meets Rural Residency Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Field: Visual Arts (particularly suitable for media art / post studio practice)
Duration of stay: 4 weeks
Period: 02 March to 30 March 2026
One scholarship available in total
Including: Accommodation, studio
Not barrier-free, assistance animals possible upon agreement; suitable for families and artist duos (but only one shared bedroom)
Travel expenses will not be covered for any of the collaborations.
Conditions of participation: Freelance artists, writers or composers who are resident in Bavaria or have a clear connection to Bavaria are invited to apply. There is no age restriction. Individuals who have already received a scholarship in the past are eligible to apply for another partner institution three years after their stay (for the same partner institution after five years).
