Mara Pollak
In her photographic works, Mara Pollak focuses on the observation of human existence within sociopolitical structures, aiming to make complex sociocultural narratives visible. Through her reduced yet compelling visual language, she combines precise documentation with aesthetic reflection, offering subtle insights into the interplay of space, identity and politics. Her involvement with hidden, unassuming subjects creates artworks which challenge existing perspectives in order to encourage a rethink of everyday realities as well as sensitises viewers to deeper, often unnoticed social structures.
In 2021, Mara Pollak graduated as a master student of Julian Rosefeldt at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and received the Photography Promotion Award of the year 2018 from the City of Munich among other awards and scholarships. Her works are exhibited internationally and were recently shown at the Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart and the Goethe-Institut in Paris.
