Contemporary Art Ensconced in a Historic Context
The Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus (Cultural Center of the Upper Palatinate) in Schwandorf/Germany is comprised of the landmarked Kebbel-Villa with its park and several other buildings on the grounds. Our institution is supported by the Bavarian City of Schwandorf in Germany, where we offer an established platform for contemporary art and culture. Current positions of local, regional and international artists as well as important questions of the present day present themselves in a rich array of exhibitions and events.
Our diverse program of events comprises classical and Jazz music, puppet theater, comedy, literary offerings as well as artist conversations and guided tours.
Professional artists offer courses in the visual arts and in the printmaking studios with set-ups for etching, lithography and serigraphy. Courses are offered year-round in the Kebbel-Villa and in the park during the summer.
Our international artist-in-residence program in collaboration with complementing partner houses in Germany and abroad link the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus with its immediate neighbors and the world.
Three art collections of the District of the Upper Palatinate, the City of Schwandorf and the NGO Förderverein Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus are housed at the Künstlerhaus. They preserve and document the arts and culture of the region in a comprehensive overview.
