Sculpture Park
The sculpture park of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus (Cultural Center of the Upper Palatinate) houses a representative group of sculptures created by artists from the region as well as artists-in-residence from Germany and abroad. Monumental works by Klaus Caspers (Regensburg) und Leah Jacobson (United States) sit next to Hubert Baumann’s (Neumarkt) architectural Himmelszeichen (Sky Sign) ensemble. Two fountains by Schwandorf artist Peter Mayer and an abstract work by digital artist and sculptor Erwin Regler (currently living in Canada) complete the collection.
The park features two types of landscape architecture. A formal, symmetrically laid out Baroque garden with manicured boxwood rows and a central fountain borders an English garden at the southern edge, with gently rolling lawns set against groups of trees and shrubs. The works indicate the three art collections of the Oberpfälzer Künstlerhaus: District of the Upper Palatinate, City of Schwandorf and NGO of the Künstlerhaus.
