Brenna K. Murphy explores experiences of loss and grief and their relationship to the body, emotional labor, and the physical labor of making using fiber-based techniques such as weaving, embroidery, and lace-making. She holds a M.F.A. from the University of Michigan Stamps School of Art & Design and a B.F.A. with Highest Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

A working artist for many years, Brenna has exhibited widely throughout the United States and internationally in community art centers, commercial galleries, and corporate venues. Her work has also been featured in exhibitions at museums and universities such as the Hunter Museum of American Art, the Patan Museum, the University of Pennsylvania, and the University of Michigan. She is the recipient of many awards, including the CAA 2017 Professional Development Award in the Visual Arts, which is awarded to only one MFA student in the United States each year.  She has attended several artist residencies, such as the Djerassi Resident Artists Program in California, the Kathmandu Contemporary Arts Centre (KCAC) in Nepal, and the Cité Internationale des Arts in France.
